This research paper addresses parents and children's perceptions on bullying in schools.
Bullying is a serious issue impacting children‘s mental health. The paper has followed a
qualitative approach to conduct the research using in depth interviews as tools to understand
parent‘s and children‘s perceptions on bullying. The collected data were analysed and then
categorised. The findings were categorised in three parts; parent‘s perception, prevalence and
the role of schools relating to bullying in Bangladesh. Although parents have a clear
understanding about bullying, they seemed to differ in the severity of the problem and the
alignment of views of children. This study presents parents‘ and children‘s perception on
bullying, it explores the understanding parents have on bullying, the prevalence of bullying in
English Medium schools in Dhaka as well as the role of school in bullying preventions.
