Abstract
Bangabandhu Media Complex is a project designed with keeping in mind with the evolving needs of the journalism profession. The project is considered as a way to pay tribute to the people of the media profession. This project focuses on the daily needs of the national press club along with some other facilities such as recreational facilities, dorm facilities and rentable office facilities through which the club itself can cover its upcoming expenses. Though it is a part of the government institution, it runs individually. The first press club here was the East Pakistan Press Club established in 1954. After the liberation war, it was named the national press club. The club also has a historical value associated with itself. This place is also associated with social, cultural, political and economic issues. The current condition of the national press club is not quite satisfactory. It has not been developed in a way that can cope up with the modern scenario. It lacks modern technologies as well as different facilities. As the club is a gathering place for all the media professionals across the country, it should have all the necessary facilities. With that vision, this project aims to incorporate auditorium, banquet hall, media center, media museum, club office, club recreational facilities, club dorm facilities as well as rentable office spaces. The challenge here is to keep a balance between the civic space and the privacy of the press club.
