dc.description.abstract | Maritime studies make vital contributions to global trade, safety, environmental sustainability,
human resource development, and various other aspects of the marine industry. The education
and skills acquired through maritime studies and programs have a broad impact on the
functioning and advancement of such activities nationally and worldwide. Thus, the National
Maritime Institute, Rajshahi, is a government initiative toward the further development of
maritime education and training in Bangladesh. This paper seeks to establish how an institution
campus can be created that is conducive to the learning of maritime education, emphasizing both
theoretical notions and physical training. The project aims to create a harmonious environment
for students, faculty members, staff, and guests who will frequent the premises, and for those
who will live on campus, to attain knowledge and wisdom through academics and training, while
experiencing liveliness through sports and recreation. Through extensive research and studies, it
was determined that a maritime institution should ensure a positive environment for living,
learning, and promoting a culture of environmental consciousness. The collective efforts of the
institution with its design, its students, and its staff should create a positive impact on the local
communities and their livelihoods. Consequently, a framework for the project was created that
would contribute to maritime education and thus, help society as a whole through the integration
of academics, organized living, environmental considerations, and emphasis on the public realm. | en_US |
