Association of mothers’ single nucleotide polymorphism of Vitamin D receptor’s FokⅠ gene with risk of preterm birth and birth weight: a review
Abstract
Preterm birth and lower birth weight are one of the notable adverse effects of pregnancy. Recent studies have found the association of maternal vitamin D receptor gene’s polymorphism in one nucleotide with these events. Contributing genes for these factors are ApaⅠ, BsmⅠ, FokⅠ, and TaqⅠ. FokⅠ gene has shown the most correlation among these genes with preterm birth. Nevertheless, in this study, we did not find any association of birth weight with FokⅠ gene’s polymorphism of maternal vitamin D receptor. There are many researches focused on this genotypic change, however, all of them are conducted on a specific ethnicity. This subject needs more research to exhibit the exact correlation.
