dc.description.abstract | According to location and existing network, Biman Bandar Railway Station has the potential to
become a multimodal transit hub. Despite the fact that railway itself is an important form of
transportation in Bangladesh which has been consistently ignored in favor of other modes,
limiting its accessibility. Whereas other transport systems, such as MRT and BRT, have been
drastically developing, the lack of investment is blatantly revealed on poor development of
railway network and management. After studying and making a logical prediction, this railway
station will soon change into an unfriendly and unknown place for the passenger which will
include multiple transit routes which can make this place unlivable. This paper will be focusing
mainly on the comfort of passengers so that passengers can find a multimodal transit hub which
would be socially and functionally active at Biman Bandar Railway Station. By studying
multiple international multimodal transport systems, accessibility performance, passenger
feedback and different development projects, it is used to analyze the level of present public
transportation accessibility and future demand of this transit hub in order to propose new
possible ways to design the transit hub at Biman Bandar railway station. After comparing both
international case studies with the existing national Railway Station, a proposition will be
developed as a potential metric for future multimodal hubs. | en_US |
