dc.description.abstract | “স্বরলিপি”; Rangpur Folk Centre aims to fulfill the need of preserving the rich field of folk cultures and
traditions oftheRangpur city. This Centre can help to preserve and display the traditional arts, crafts,
music, dance and cultural heritage of Rangpur by involving local community.
The phrase 'folks' derives from “folklore” that is the expressive body of way of life shared by a
specific group of human beings, and it consists of the traditions which might be specific to that
subculture, way of life, or community. Therefore, this Rangpur Folk Center can help revive
contemporary popular culture and the traditional aesthetic tastes and qualities of the city. In
addition, North Bengal folk dance and drama, folk music, folk arts and folk crafts will strengthen
our deep-rooted traditions and further prosper our country.
Rangpur is the oldest city of Bangladesh which is full of folk cultural and traditional activities.
Therefore, This Folk Center can offer a public gathering place to preserve and know more about
the old culture and traditions. The site is located next to the Bank of Bangladesh, with convenient
transportation and close to the main node connecting the three main roads. Since, I have designed
the folklore center with folklore architecture, it will help revitalize the popular culture of Rangpur
City. In addition, the proposed site is planted with old trees, which have been helped to create a
rustic atmosphere in the design process of the folk center.
in short, this Folk Centre can be easily connected with the local people and with their emotions
through the natural and landscape elements. That is why it is named “স্বরলিপি”. | en_US |
