Beta blockers: an overview on the current established therapeutic uses on different classes of patients for a deeper understanding on the proper utilization while prescribing a drug

Beta Blockers are one of the most prominent classes of drugs for treating various
cardiovascular diseases. It has a wide array of efficacy where the drug has established itself as
one of the go-to drugs by physicians for treating hypertension and other conditions. This report
is an overview on what we know about Beta Blockers in general and the pharmacology (brief
mechanism of action) of the drug. This overview portrays the current established therapeutic
uses of the drug. The report comprises the use of beta blockers in arrhythmia, cancer prognosis,
chronic heart failure, COPD, sepsis, migraine prevention, cardiomyopathy, myocardial
infarction, congestive heart failure and patients undergoing coronary bypass surgery. The
findings of its various uses lead report to its second part which contains the in-depth portrayal
of its various trials conducted on randomized group, CKD patient groups, elderly patient
groups, patient groups with cirrhosis, patients with traumatic brain injury, placebo group study,
rate of mortality on beta blocker use. The report also points out the impact of selective and nonselective
beta blockers on its long-term use along with potential toxicological outcomes of the
drug under various conditions of administration. This report is intended to provide a more
concise and medically significant information on beta blockers for aiding in the dosing pattern
of the drug. The study will provide a more robust understanding for an impactful therapeutic
usage of the drug on different classes of patients.
