Perception of the private university law students of Bangladesh on online legal education during COVID 19 pandemic: practices, challenges and scopes of improvement

University students from around the world are stuck home and continuing study using
available resource and systems. Students are experiencing changes in the teaching-learning
mechanism where internet became primary mode of connectivity. Using in-depth interview
and classroom observation of private university law students, the study explored perspectives
of the students regarding sudden paradigm shift in legal education due to pandemic. The
research was conducted with using purposive sampling technique to target students with
similar experience and background. It identified the persisting challenges of online legal
education in private universities of Bangladesh like connectivity, resource, engagement,
teaching-learning method and assessment. The research brought out improvement scope
which includes incorporation of blended learning system and mental health support for
students as well as teachers. The study paints a picture of current practices from the
perspective of law students in private universities of Bangladesh.
