Design and performance analysis of optical and RF antenna using FDTD simulation
Abstract
In this study, we have investigated the optical property of single and coupled
plasmonic antenna using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. The extinction
efficiency, plasmon coupling, and near and far-field enhancement have been investigated as a
function of size and shape for dipole, bowtie, and rectangular nanoantenna. Additionally, we
have investigated the patch and probe antenna in terms of return loss, near field power, input
impedance, and directivity and observed how antenna parameters can be tuned by changing
their dimensions. The findings of this study will be helpful to design a cost-effective and
efficient plasmonic nanoantenna by replacing the typical RF antenna in terms of size, efficiency,
cost, and convenience.
