Shurer Dhara, a school for music, particularly focused on Rabindranath Tagore’s music and literature and established by Rezwana Chowdhury Bannya is to have a permanent campus of its own in Chand Uddyan Housing, Mohammadpur, Dhaka. The music school is to be developed into an extensive cultural center, in addition to having research facilities on Tagore and his works and a primary school for children from lower income families in the nearby areas in Mohammadpur.
Shurer Dhara Music Institute and Tagore Research Center will emphasize on Rabindranath Tagore’s method of teaching so that children could grow up without superstitions and narrow thinking. Through this project, his philosophies will reach people from all walks of life. Based on the same principles as Shantiniketan was built on, Rezwana Chowdhury conducts her school. Therefore, keeping in mind the way she received education in Vishwa Bharati, this project aims to bring about a tiny yet similar essence of Tagore’s Vishwa Bharati world university, where everyone will grow as a culturally, socially, aesthetically, spiritually and economically developed individual, learning in a place which is surrounded entirely by nature as it is to be designed in a way that it merges with the landscape.
