dc.description.abstractThis research attempts to determine the motivational orientation of the undergraduate students of the Department of English of BRAC University towards learning English. Motivation is considered one of the dominant social psychological variables as far as language proficiency is concerned. This study is aimed at finding out the correlation between different types of motivational orientations and the language proficiency of the students of the Department of English of BRAC University. The study revealed quite conclusively that integratively oriented learners are more successful language learners. The research concludes with some pedagogical suggestions to promote integrative orientation in the language classroom.en_US
