dc.description.abstract | ICT services are given the limelight and core importance in the current government’s “Digital
Bangladesh” movement. The mission of this movement is to mainstream ICTs such that it is used
as a tool to eradicate poverty, establish good governance, ensure social equity through quality
education, ensure proper healthcare and law enforcement for all, and prepare the people for
climate change. However, there is a lack of participation from the private sector, which makes
the ICT services and venues financially and socially unviable. Hence, Grameenphone (and other
telecommunication services) and the government has been actively seeking out common middle
ground in their services in order to build a more connected nation. This might include special
tariff included sim cards, high-speed broadband Internet connection or any other ICT related
services. In order to reach the ultimate goal, citizens of the country need to be connected through
a network of mobile communications. | en_US |
