dc.description.abstract | Antibiotic resistance is on the rise for the last few decades. As commercial antibiotics are failing to combat microbes, alternative methods are being investigated. The properties of silver as disinfectant have been known for years. Synthesizing and using silver nanoparticles to inhibit the growth of drug-resistant bacteria can be the solution to combat this alarming problem. Here, silver nanoparticles were synthesized using 5 different methods. The synthesized particles were analyzed by UV spectrometry, Scanning Electron Microscopy and DLS Spectroscopy. AgNPs obtained from the first and fifth method of synthesis were most stable and uniform in size. Silver nanoparticle was found to have antimicrobial activities but that was not so significant. | en_US |
