dc.description.abstract | This paper is an attempt to understand the context of tourism in Cox’s Bazar and concludes design of a tourist resort in Shaibal Motel Complex, Cox’s Bazar. Cox’s Bazar, located along Bay of Bengal in South Eastern Bangladesh, is one of the most pristine tourism destinations of South East Asia. The town is known for its 125 km long unbroken shore, which is believed to be world’s longest natural sandy sea beach. However, despite major growth in tourism sector especially in hotels and motels, Cox’s Bazar lacks a place of entertainment for the tourists and the locals. The development of the tourism places does not respect the context and source of entertainment, relaxation and environment is very limited. Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation has realized this fact and planned to build a tourist complex in Cox’s Bazar. This resort and complex can work as a transitional space with proper accommodation and relaxation facilities for the tourists travelling Cox’s Bazar. The aim of the study is to help design a tourist resort within the complex along the well-known Shaibal Beach and Motel Road. The aim of the resort is to complement with the landscape of Cox’s Bazar with minimal disruption to the ecological balance of the area and to provide relaxation among the existing water and landscapes. | en_US |
