    Abstract
    Importance of banking system in a country is increasing day by day. It is quite impossible for any country to develop an industrial and commercial sector without sound banking system in modern economic era. Foreign exchange operation is one of the significant functions of the bank. It plays a vital role in overall economy of the country. Bank collects information from numerous sources relating to cost and revenue from foreign exchange operation. Through export, import, and foreign remittances Foreign Exchange department of the banks earns their profit. Banks is the intermediary of all export, import, and remittance activities. Globalization of national economies has given a boost to international trade. The seller and the buyer in an international trading transaction must agree for a product or its quality, price etc. enter into a sales contract, spelling out precisely shipping and delivery details, terms of payment, required documentation and other related issues including dispute settlement procedure and legal framework available. The impact on trade transactions currency policies of the importing and exporting countries and risks associated with them, fraud possibilities in the transaction or in documents are also necessary. A country cannot long continue to have a deficit on foreign current account but a favorable balance of payments on current account may conceal a heavy adverse balance of payments with one individual country or group of countries.
