    Abstract
The world that we live in today comprises of many different technologies, each with its special characteristics. We now live in a world where technology is expanding rapidly and every time it is being made even better or something new is being gifted to us. The world is now converging to become “one” under the influence of new networking technologies. Most of our electronic devices that we use now-a-days have networking capabilities. Some devices have the ability to communicate with various types of networks at the same time, e.g. GSM, WLAN, 3G, 4G, WiMAX, etc. Quite often we use a particular network for a specific task and hardly do we use both networks in parallel as this can consume more power from the source and drain the batteries sooner than expected. Hence we resort to means by which we may switch networks as required. This switching process is known as handover.
